This is just an exception, KD normally doesn't block that many shots per game (averaged 1.6 blocks/game this season).
However, I see that one of the Cavs offensive tactics is still very effective against other teams: LBJ carries the ball and attacks. He can attack the hoop if he finds hole in the defense, or he can pass the ball to Love, Irving or Smith, who can either shoot the 3's, or attack if they feel like it. Then LBJ & Tristan Thompson can stay near the hoop and grab offensive rebound (Thompson is a very strong in offensive rebound and LBJ is both strong and can jump high). They have a significant chance of grabbing the rebound against the like of Pachulia (not strong enough), Green (OK, but can't jump that high), KD (with long arms but not that strong). You can see that the Cavs are perfecting this tactic and that LBJ's assists numbers are rising rapidly this season (9.7 assists/game so far, versus only 6.8 assists/game last season!). Lue (or LBJ, the hidden coach) probably thinks this is the most effective tactic against the GSW so they are practicing it more. This tactic is also extensively used by Westbrook & Harden, but Cavs have better 3-point shooters than those teams. ... |
